Vitamins and Minerals

A surprising amount of people don't realize that you can get vitamins and minerals from the common foods we eat daily. Met someone once complaining about how they don't get enough vitamins because the supplements are getting expensive, I asked about their diet, and they got very indignant, claiming "it's not like I can eat rocks."

Every day I lose more and more hope for humanity.

Anyway! Here are some common vitamins and minerals and the foods that contain them

Vitamins

Vitamin A - Eggs, Butter, Carrots, Milk, Liver, Cabbage

Vitamin B1 - Peas, Meat, Potato's, Soya-beans, Milk (Again?)

Vitamin B2 - Green Vegetables, Meat, Cheese, Soya-beans, Milk (I'm starting to see a trend here)

Vitamin B - Tomato's, Potato's, Peanuts, Bananas, Vegetables

Vitamin B6 - Dry Fruits & Nuts, Peas, Fish, Meat, Milk

Vitamin B12 - Eggs, Meat, Liver, Cheese, Milk

Vitamin C - Citrus fruits

Vitamin D - Eggs, Milk, Fish, THE SUN

Vitamin E - Bananas, Green Vegetables, Soya-beans, Eggs, Almonds

Vitamin K - Tomato's, Soya-beans, Spinach, Meat, Turnips, Lettuce

Ok first of all, why are there so many Vitamin B variants? No seriously someone explain it to me.

Secondly, from the pattern I can see above, Fruits - Vegetables - Meat - Milk just about cover it, who knew? (sarcasm in case you didn't realize it)

Onto Minerals

Calcium - Dairy, Leafy greens, Almonds, Tofu

Iron - Meat, Lentils, Beans, Spinach

Magnesium - Nuts, Seeds, Whole grains, Spinach, Bananas

Potassium - Bananas, Potato's with skin (Oddly specific), Oranges, Spinach, Tomatoes, Avocadoes

Zinc - Meat, Shellfish, Legumes, Seeds

Selenium - Brazil nuts, Seafood, Poultry, Eggs, Whole grains

Phosphorus - Dairy, Meat, Fish, Poultry, Whole grains, Nuts

Iodine - Iodized salt, Seafood, Dairy

Copper - Liver, Shellfish, Nuts, Seeds

Manganese - Whole grains, Nuts, Leafy vegetables, Tea

I'm not even going to bring attention to the pattern and let you readers figure it out.

Ok now look, I am fully aware that variables such as availability, allergies and one's financial situation will make it difficult to get the required foods to stay healthy. However counter argument! Supplements aren't cheap either. Off course this list does not have every food in the world, I don't have the attention span for that, so please feel free to do your own research on the topic.
